Great Lakes Scrip Program

We are initiating a new fund raising program here at St. Francis of Assisi by giving our parishioners the opportunity to purchase gift cards for gifts and/or cards for their own purposes through this new reward system.

Scrip is a term that means "substitute money" in the form of a gift card. When we purchase scrip, we are purchasing gift cards that are used just like cash. Parishioners can purchase cards for everyday expenses like food, clothing, gasoline, prescriptions, gifts and other expenses. With every purchase St. Francis of Assisi will earn revenue. It costs us nothing more than we would spend at any store, but it profits and helps our church. It is a way of making purchases that you would make anyway. For example:

I may go to L.L. Bean to purchase a pair of boots. The boots cost $100. If I buy a gift card through the church, I pay the church $100; the church then gives me a card worth $100 and I go and purchase my boots. It cost me $100 either way but, L.L. Bean gives the church a 15% discount, therefore, the church gets $15.

It is the same way with Stop and Shop, Exxon, Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, Best Buy and many, many others, each company offering a different percentage for profit. A list of companies is enclosed in this bulletin so you may see those companies who participate. If you do not see it on the list just ask the representative and we can add it to the list if available.

These gift card orders will be taken before and after every Mass, every weekend for those who wish to purchase them. You order your card, pay by cash or check, and you will then pick up your purchase at Mass the following weekend.

These gift cards are good forever and you don't have to spend the entire amount all at once.
If you have a $50 card and you spend $40, you still have $10 left on your card.

Please consider spending what you normally would, by purchasing gift cards from our church. There are many advantages to this program. It is nice to go to dinner, the grocery store, get gas, whatever it may be, and having it already paid for. It saves gas by buying while at church rather than driving to the mall. No traffic, less parking problems. But, most importantly, we are helping our church.
